It's so easy, you don't even need to take the time to actually write an original letter!
Step 1 - Cut or copy this letter:
One year ago, if we'd read in the paper that Barack Obama could ever undo the damage done to America by that evil sub-human George W. Bush during his illegitimate administration, we'd have known we were being lied to! We sophisticated Obama supporters obviously knew that the problems inherited from that moron would last well into perpetuity, and that our only Hope for Change was to contain and minimize the disasterous effects of W's policies during Obama's term in office.Modest aspirations, yes - but grounded in the sober reality that defined his campaign.
During Obama's historic campaign, the unspoken words that lingered in the air on many a stump were: "Buckle down for a long, hard slog the likes of which we haven't seen since the Great Depression." It does takes time, you know, to devise a working economic model that will pay for everyone's gas and mortgage!
But Candidate Obama didn't feed us happy talk. Rather, he served us Kool-aid. That's why we elected him - because he could mix up a batch of Triple Awesome Grape like you've never tasted before! It was so addictively delicious we hardly noticed his clear talk of inevitable exploding deficits and increasing unemployment. That would have been depressing to think about anyway. (Boo! Hiss!) He also talked of hard choices - such as whether to let Biden tag along on lunch outings, what flavor shaved ice to get while on vacation, or what brew to select at the Beer Summit.
Right after the election, we seemed to grasp this. We understood that companies would continue laying people off in droves, and would be scared stiff by the constant threat of new regulations and confiscatory tax rates to think much about hiring anymore.
We understood that the banks were lying when they said they'd spread the wealth around. (Wait, what?) That a national consensus on health care couldn't be shoved down the electorate's throat without a fight. Candidate Obama never claimed that his proposed solutions would work flawlessly right out of the box (tricked ya - he never proposed any concrete solutions, sucka!) and we respected him for that.
Today, the president is being attacked as if he'd promised specifics during his campaign. I mean, c'mon - are you really going to hold the C-SPAN transparency thing against him just because he said it? That's a little harsh, don't you think? It's time for Americans to realize that being president is really, really, super-duper hard, and that Obama can't just wave a magic wand and fix everything.
